Course Overview

Global society is facing increasingly complex challenges that affect all areas of life. Poverty and inequality, environmental problems, humanitarian crises, wars, terrorism, xenophobia, and social injustice have consequences that ultimately impact every individual.

One of the key tasks of education today is to enable (young) people to understand global issues in all their complexity and to reflect on them critically. This involves perceiving economic, social, political, ecological, and cultural developments as interconnected processes that offer opportunities for personal participation and active engagement in global society.

In this course, participants will develop educational concepts that enable them to prepare their students for the global challenges of the 21st century.

Benefits

By the end of the course, you will take away a wide range of teaching materials and instructional concepts for your own classroom practice.

You will gain a solid foundation for delivering engaging and relevant civic and political education lessons.

Participants will develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of their own role, rights, and responsibilities as global citizens.

Background knowledge will be provided on current conflicts, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the challenges of global trade.

Participants’ competencies in designing modern, open-minded, and competence-oriented teaching will be strengthened. In particular, subject knowledge, reflective competence, judgment competence, and methodological competence will be fostered.

You will acquire interactive teaching methods and whole-schoolapplication approaches to promote a better understanding of democraticprocesses among students.

In addition, the sending institutions will benefit in several ways after the completion of this course. These include expanded networking opportunities among educators across Europe, improved teaching methodologies in the field of civic education, practical concepts for actively living democracy within the school community, enhanced intercultural competence among staff, and a contribution to peaceful coexistence in a diverse European environment. Our courses are rooted in the European ideals of unity in diversity and a strong commitment to a sustainable future.
